Well, after nine long months (actually my wife is correcting me, ten long months) punctuated by an additional seven days of waiting, we finally met our son, Isaac Scott Bendickson, on the evening of April 2nd at 7:24pm. He weighed 10lbs 1oz and was 21.5 inches long. We’re all doing well and resting (when we can) together at home. I’m lucky enough to have the next few weeks off from work so I’ll be able to be here and support Sarah, Isaac and Joel through this transition from being a family of three to a family of four.

I’ll spare you the nitty gritty details of the labor and birth but suffice it to say Sarah really earned this one. I’m once again humbled by the whole process that a mother endures bringing life into the world. I also must sincerely thank our two wonderful doulas Sarah and Roslyn. We didn’t plan on using both of them but it turns out we sure appreciated the fact they were both there. It seems silly to say we couldn’t have done it without them, because one way or another babies get born… but the idea of naturally birthing a 10 pound baby without such amazing birth support seems pretty impossible to me.

Joel is warming to the idea of having a little brother, and affectionately refers to him as “Baby Isaac”. It’s really pretty dang cute. It’s hard to tell at this point, but I’m pretty sure they’ll look alike as Isaac gets older. Take a look the “Day 1″ pictures and see for yourself.
